Introduction to Stump Removal
Mature trees do unfortunately get cut down or fall. Aside from being aesthetically unpleasant, stumps can become a tripping hazard and can cause suckering or dangerous fungal root rot. Stumps can negatively affect the plants living around them, and should in most cases be removed. The experienced team of Tree Doctors can help you remove the often large and heavy stumps for good using the right equipment and much-practices skills.Types of Stump Removal
There are several ways to remove stumps, and our representatives would work with you to choose the best way for your particular situation. Here are some of the most popular ways:
1. The most common way to remove stumps is by stump grinding. This technique requires a special piece of equipment called a stump grinder that chips away the stump up to the 16″ below the grade. Depending on the job, stump grinders range in size from lawnmowers to small trucks. Tree Doctors have an advanced stump grinder machinery that can do the job quickly and efficiently. We can do any type of stumps in the front yard and most of the stumps at the back yard because our stump grinder can go through the standard 36″ gate opening. We charge 10$ per inch of a largest diameter of the stump as measured at the ground level. Just as an example if the stump measures 15″ in diameter at the ground level then it will cost 150$ to remove this stump. Please note that the minimum stump grinding charge in Toronto is 125$.
2. An alternative is chemical burning removal. This less environmentally friendly alternative involves putting an industrial tree stump killer into holes drilled inside the trunk. The stump is then burned, but smoking may persist for quite some time.
3. The most environmentally friendly way to remove a stump is by simply digging it out. A deep ditch would be dug around the stump and most supporting and major roots would be cut and pulled out before the stump itself is taken out. We charge 150$/hr for a team of 3 professionals with appropriate equipment who can dig the stump for you. It takes about two hours to dig out a medium sized stump.
