Arborist Supervision and Root Sensitive Excavation
The root systems of mature trees can extend two to three times beyond the canopy’s edge. Protecting a sufficient portion of a tree’s root system can be challenging during construction projects. In order to protect significant trees and ensure critical roots are not damaged during construction, most GTA Forestry Bylaws require some form of root sensitive excavation (hydro vac, air spading, etc.) when construction encroaches on the protected root zone of trees on site.
Our certified arborists and technicians perform root sensitive excavation in order to remove soil and debris and gently expose roots at the limits of construction. This allows us to efficiently assess the impact of root severance, cut roots cleanly where injury is required, and provide a professional report for review that meets Toronto and GTA Bylaw requirements.
